Following two sold-out runs, NahNotOutsideMyHouse! Productions
is proud to announce the return of Mercury: The Afterlife and
Times of a Rock God for an extended run at The Triad Theatre
at 158 West 72nd Street in NYC.
Mercury: The Afterlife and Times of a Rock God is a passionate
one-man drama about rock icon Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the legendary
rock group Queen. His tragic death of AIDS in 1991 had a tremendous worldwide
impact since he was the first rock star to publicly acknowledge his illness.
In the play, which was hailed by Billboard as
"heartfelt, moving and entertaining," the late
Freddie Mercury seeks redemption before a God unimpressed by his celebrity.
In his ultimate struggle to make sense of his grim fate, he realizes that
his fame, fortune and talents are no longer enough to sustain him; that
beyond the darkness of his fears, shines a light far brighter than the
superstar he was on earth.
Mercury is directed by author Charles
Messina ("Cirque Jacqueline", "Spy the Movie") and stars
*Amir Darvish ("Two Men In Shoulder Stand", "Aida").
In its two previous runs, the play has managed to draw cult-like global
attention from loyal fans of Queen. Devotees have come from as far as
Belgium to witness what Billboard calls "a
passionate performance". Whether or not your life was touched
by Queen's music or the premature death of its legendary leader, in the
words of Back Stage, one thing is certain about
Mercury: "It will rock you".
NahNotOutsideMyHouse! Productions came into being when
Robert De Niro said exactly that to writer/director Messina when he tried
to pitch a screenplay to the movie star outside his TriBeCa home. Joined
by executive producer Adrienne DelPercio is associate
producer Gina Ferranti.
